show moreIt was the Forty-Deuce show for the Honchos tonight. The magic number is 42, for Jackie Robinson and for 42 shows, and just like the previous 41 the Honchos brought the noise and brought the funk tonight. After Rob proudly announced that he is the newest member of the Nielsen ratings family, the Honchos got right to the news of the day - strange ways to die and the worst wedgie of all time.
The sportstalk portion of the showgram started with a review of the epic week that was in college football. The Honchos had a lot to say about Alabama's loss to Texas A&M, the continuing chaos in the Top 25, the reality of who gets into the College Football Playoff, and the weekly Presbyterian Blue Hose update.
In the NHL/NBA/MLB segment the Honchos waxed philosophically about the start of the 2021-22 NHL season, their favorite goalies of the past, salaries in the NHL, the Ben Simmons dance with the Sixers, Kyrie Irving's selfish stance on vaccines, and the MLB playoffs. Are the Astros cheating again?
The NFL recap had the usual whiparound look at the games from Week 5 and the upcoming games in Week 6, but the segment was dominated by the Jon Gruden resignation (firing) in the wake of his inflammatory and offensive emails.
The marathon showgram ended as it always does, with the Dope of the Week. This week's winner was Danny White, Athletic Director at the University of Tennessee.
