The Honchos welcomed November with a Fall Classic of their own. Episode 45, in which the Honchos paid tribute to another 45, Bob Gibson, began with some Halloween talk and then gave way to some headlines. Tonight's top stories dealt with a high school blowout, strange times at the local Popeye's, and some terrible social justice from our pals at PETA.
The Honchos popped the cork on the sports with some college football talk. The first CFP rankings are out so that took top billing in this segment. That was followed by Jim Harbaugh talk, interesting nuggets from the week that was in college football, the candy choices of the ACC coaches, the firing of Gary Patterson at TCU, and the weekly Blue Hose update.
Things got heated between the Honchos during the NHL/NBA/MLB segment when the conversation turned to the NHL's handling of the Blackhawks-Brad Aldrich scandal, especially the Hall of Fame's decision to remove Aldrich's name from the Cup. When the dust settled the Honchos talked Sidney Crosby and Covid, the continuing drama around Ben Simmons, the Ingleside Lakers, the World Series, Bob Melvin taking the Padres job, and the retirement of Buster Posey.
The NFL recap featured the usual whiparound the league, moves that were made (and not made) at the trade deadline, Aaron Rodgers getting Covid, and more bad news for the Vegas Raiders in the form of Henry Ruggs.
The Fall Classic got to a Game 7 with the Dope of the Week. This week's winner was Mike Tomlin, head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
