The internet almost broke when Brandt Jean forgave his brother Botham's murderer--former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger. Christians took it and ran, touting how wonderful it is that Christians should forgive no matter what.

BUT, the most important clause was stripped from Brandt's impact statement: "IF you truly are sorry. . . then I forgive you." Brandt Jean has a very biblical view of forgiveness. He did not sensationalize it; the rest of the world did. Jean did not forgive Amber Guyger for his own healing. He did it because he wanted her to be able to heal. It was a gift that he offered her. And he only did it IF she truly was sorry. In this episode, we explore forgiveness and why so many have turned forgiveness into therapy, when it was never intended to be therapeutic.
