Joseph’s story reveals God is in sovereign control of all the events of your life and every detail He is continually weaving together for good, for you who love Him to fulfill His designed purpose. (Romans 8:28) For you who He knew before you were ever born wrote all your days in His Book (Psalms 139:16). God has a definite purpose and goal for your life to fulfill His designed plan that He is going to achieve called your destiny and the good works you would do to complete it! (Ephesians 2:10)
The theme of Joseph's story is God's sovereignty and how God confirms His sovereignty in Joseph's life, his brothers' life, and Jacobs's life from Genesis 37 through 50. God confirmed Joseph's destiny by becoming the governor of Egypt and his brothers bowing down to him. He recognized that God sent him ahead of his family to ensure that they would live and have descendants. And then God confirmed to Jacob in a vision to go to Egypt there. He would make him a great nation. (Genesis 46:2-4)
God clearly tells you He chooses and directs the steps you take to get to your destiny, not you. (Proverbs 16:9, 20:24) And through Joseph's story, God reveals encouraging insight into how He is sovereignly working all things together for good in the details of your life in Genesis 50:20. Joseph tells his brother, even though you intended to hurt me and thought evil of me, God Intended it for good. It was God's plan all along to ensure the survival of many people and to preserve our family.
