She researches and writes about her family, as she is a family historian. Dera has co-authored multiple works and many anthologies, most currently contributing in All the Women in My Family Sing, Where’s my Tiara (fiction) and currently seeking publication of her childhood memories collection, In My Backyard: Stories of Growing Up in Oakland.
