Story Transcript:

Af: Daar was eens 'n besige Sondagmiddag in Die Spur Restaurant.
En: Once upon a busy Sunday afternoon in Die Spur Restaurant.

Af: Die son het deur die groot vensters gestroom en die lug was gevul met die geur van gebraaide vleis.
En: The sun streamed through the large windows and the air was filled with the smell of roasted meat.

Af: Mense het gelag, kinders het in die speelhoekie gespeel, en kelners het vinnig tussen die tafels deur beweeg.
En: People laughed, children played in the play corner, and waiters moved quickly between the tables.

Af: By een van die tafels het daar 'n man met blink oë en 'n entoesiastiese glimlag gesit.
En: At one of the tables sat a man with bright eyes and an enthusiastic smile.

Af: Sy naam was Johan.
En: His name was Johan.

Af: Johan het sy ou vriende, Anika en Pieter, genooi vir middagete.

En: Johan pulled a stick from behind his ear and made a blue cloth disappear.

En: Anika laughed and clapped.

Af: "Jy's nog steeds goed met jou towerkunste, Johan!
En: "You're still good with your magic tricks, Johan!"

En: Johan's heart beat faster.

En: Anika and Pieter leaned in, their eyes full of anticipation.

En: But as Johan waved his hands and exclaimed "Abracadabra!"

En: his sleeve caught the coffee cup.

En: In an instant, the warm, brown liquid flowed over Anika's lap.

Af: Anika het geskrik en opgespring, haar gesig vertrek van skok.
En: Anika jumped up, her face contorted in shock.

Af: "O, my genade, Anika, ek is so jammer!
En: "Oh, my goodness, Anika, I'm so sorry!"

Af: " het Johan uitgeroep.
En: exclaimed Johan.

Af: Hy het na die servette gegryp en probeer help om die gemors skoon te maak.
En: He reached for the napkins and tried to help clean up the mess.

En: Anika tried to smile, but Johan could see she wasn't happy.

En: While Johan and Pieter helped clean up the mess, Johan thought about how he could make things right.

En: "Johan, it's not necessary for a new dress, but I'll have a tremendously big ice cream with you."

En: So they put the unfortunate coffee incident behind them and enjoyed a large triple scoop ice cream together, laughing with every spoonful and making new memories.
