Story Transcript:

Ga: Lá breá gréine a bhí ann nuair a shocraigh Seamus agus Aoife dul ag siúl cois na haille ar imeall na hÉireann – na hAillte Móra.
En: It was a beautiful sunny day when Seamus and Aoife decided to go for a walk along the cliffs on the edge of Ireland - the Cliffs of Moher.

Ga: Bhí gach rud geal agus lonrach agus an saol ina mbosca ceoil timpeall orthu.
En: Everything was bright and vibrant, and life seemed like a music box all around them.

Ga: Ach, mar a tharlaíonn go minic in Éirinn, d’athraigh an aimsir gan choinne.
En: But as often happens in Ireland, the weather changed suddenly.

Ga: Thiocfadh plimp cloch trí ríocht an spéir agus isteach go tobann, briseadh an spéir oscailte agus thosaigh báisteach throm ag tuirlingt orthu, ag fliuchadh an dá chara go craiceann.
En: Dark clouds came rolling through the sky and suddenly, the open sky shattered and heavy rain started pouring down on them, soaking the two friends to the skin.

Ga: "Ó mo chroí!
En: "Oh my heart!"

Ga: " a scairt Aoife, agus í ag rith i dtreo ball éigin daingean.
En: exclaimed Aoife, running towards some solid spot.

Ga: "Táimid chun báite!
En: "We're going to drown!"

Ga: " Ghabh Seamus gáire agus é ag rith ina diaidh.
En: Seamus laughed as he ran after her.

Ga: "An dtiocfaidh tú, a stóir?
En: "Will you come on, darling?

Ga: Tá nead beag againn anseo!
En: We have a little nest here!"

Ga: "Fuair siad poll sa chloch – uaimh chúng nach raibh ach díreach mór go leor do bheirt acu.
En: They found a hole in the rock - a small cave that was just about big enough for both of them.

Ga: "Tar isteach anseo," arsa Seamus, agus iad ag brú isteach san uaimh bheag, ag gáire go hanlúfar.
En: "Come in here," said Seamus, as they squeezed into the small cave, laughing heartily.

Ga: Bhí codladh beag den chineál céanna orra leis na hainmhithe fiáine a lorgaíonn tearmann sa stoirm.
En: They were getting a little sleep of the same kind as the wild animals seeking shelter in the storm.

Ga: Bhí siad dlúth báite.
En: They were soaking wet.

Ga: Shuigh siad síos le chéile mar gur gá leo fanacht go dtí go mbeadh an stoirm thart.
En: They sat down together as they needed to wait until the storm passed.

Ga: Agus iad i ngar dá chéile sa spás beag teann, thosaigh Seamus ag insint scéalta greannmhara chun an t-am a chaitheamh.
En: Close to each other in the tight space, Seamus began telling funny stories to pass the time.

Ga: "An bhfuil tú ag iarraidh éisteacht le scéal faoi an fear a rinne triail ar eitilt?
En: "Do you want to hear a story about the man who tried to fly?"

Ga: " a d'iarr Seamus agus a shúil lán le spraoi.
En: asked Seamus, with mischief in his eyes.

Ga: "Go deimhin," a d'fhreagair Aoife, agus í ag ruaig a cuid gruaige fliuch ar ais óna haghaidh.
En: "Indeed," replied Aoife, pushing her wet hair back from her face.

Ga: Thosaigh sé le scéal an fhir a cheangail eiteoga le chéile chun iarracht a dhéanamh eitilt thar na hAillte.
En: He began telling the story of the man who tied wings together to try to fly over the Cliffs.

Ga: Bhí Aoife ag gáire chomh crua sin go ndearna a gáire macalla i measc na cloiche, agus níorbh fhada gur thug a gáire sólás dóibh san uaimh bheag.
En: Aoife was laughing so hard that her laughter echoed among the rocks, and it wasn't long before her laughter brought relief to them in the small cave.

Ga: Chaith siad an chuid eile den iarnóin ag déanamh spraoi as an staid aisteach inar aimsíodh iad féin.
En: They spent the rest of the evening making fun of the strange situation they found themselves in.

Ga: Le gach nóiméad, bhí an cairdeas eatarthu ag téamh suas, agus thosaigh siad ag eascairt smaointe agus scéalta níos pearsanta.
En: With every moment, the friendship between them grew stronger, and they began to share more personal thoughts and stories.

Ga: Nuair a lig an stoirm anuas faoi dheireadh, agus an ghrian ag taitneamh arís, bhí mórtas i ndiaidh teacht ar ais chun an lá.
En: When the storm finally subsided, and the sun shone again, a sense of pride came back to the day.

Ga: Amhail is gur castáil draíocht an uaimh faoi dhraíocht iad, shiúil Seamus agus Aoife amach as an uaimh le géire nua ina gcroíthe agus cairdeas níos láidre idir iad.
En: As if the cave was magically charming them, Seamus and Aoife walked out of the cave with a new edge in their hearts and a stronger bond between them.

Ga: Agus íad ar ais ag bun na nAillte, rinne Seamus agus Aoife gealltanas ach go dtabharfaidís cuairt ar an uaimh beag arís, chun comóradh a dhéanamh ar an lá a tháinig gáire agus grá chun bheith ina dtrioblóidí.
En: Back at the bottom of the Cliffs, Seamus and Aoife promised to visit the little cave again, to commemorate the day when laughter and love came to their troubles.

Ga: Cibé linbh an stoirm a chuir iad le chéile, thug na clocha agus an gháire rómánsaíocht agus cairdeas a mhairfeadh go deo.
En: Regardless of the chaos the storm brought together, the rocks and laughter brought romance and a friendship that would last forever.
