Story Transcript:

Nl: Bram en Anna waren verrukt over hun dagje uit in Amsterdam, de stad van tulpen en grachten. Ze genoten van heerlijke kaas in de kaaswinkel, ruiken de zoete geuren van de bloemenmarkt, maar ze raakten verloren. De kleine huisjes aan weerszijden van de gracht leken erg op elkaar. Anna riep uit: "Bram, katjes, we zijn verdwaald!"
En: Bram and Anna were delighted with their day out in Amsterdam, the city of tulips and canals. They enjoyed delicious cheese from the cheese shop, smelled the sweet scents of the flower market, but they got lost. The little houses on either side of the canal looked very similar. Anna exclaimed, "Bram, kittens, we're lost!"

Nl: Bram krabde zijn hoofd. "Weet je, Anna, we moeten iemand om hulp vragen." En zo zagen ze een mevrouw die voor haar huis stond, haar naam was Sofia. Ze hadden het koud, maar Sofia's grote glimlach gaf hen warmte.
En: Bram scratched his head. "You know, Anna, we need to ask someone for help." And so they saw a lady standing in front of her house, her name was Sofia. They were cold, but Sofia's big smile warmed them up.

Nl: "Goedendag, Sofia, kunt u ons de weg wijzen?" vroeg Bram beleefd. Sofia knikte en begon te wijzen. Eerst naar links, dan naar rechts, dan weer naar links. Ze leek een grapje te maken.
En: "Good day, Sofia, can you show us the way?" asked Bram politely. Sofia nodded and started pointing. First to the left, then to the right, then left again. She seemed to be making a joke.

Nl: "Neem de eerste rechts, dan twee keer links, loop rond in cirkels en spring drie keer!" zei Sofia met pretoogjes. Anna en Bram lachten. Ze dachten dat Sofia een grapje maakte.
En: "Take the first right, then two lefts, walk in circles and jump three times!" said Sofia with a twinkle in her eye. Anna and Bram laughed. They thought Sofia was joking.

Nl: "Ok, Sofia, we volgen jouw advies!" zeiden Bram en Anna, terwijl ze haar instructies begonnen te volgen. Ze gingen naar rechts, dan twee keer naar links, liepen rond in cirkels en sprongen drie keer. Ze bereikten... dezelfde plek!
En: "Okay, Sofia, we'll follow your advice!" said Bram and Anna, as they began to follow her instructions. They went to the right, then two lefts, walked in circles and jumped three times. They ended up... at the same place!

Nl: "Kijk, Sofia is hier nog steeds!" zei Anna, wijzend naar Sofia die stond te schateren van het lachen. Bram en Anna realiseerden zich dat ze in de maling waren genomen.
En: "Look, Sofia is still here!" said Anna, pointing to Sofia who was laughing heartily. Bram and Anna realized they had been tricked.

Nl: Ten slotte, door het lachen heen, legde Sofia uit: "Ik woon hier al mijn hele leven en alles in Amsterdam draait rond in cirkels. Je bent nooit echt verdwaald." Ze wees hen de juiste weg, haar schaterende lachen stillend.
En: Finally, amidst the laughter, Sofia explained, "I've lived here my whole life and everything in Amsterdam goes in circles. You're never really lost." She showed them the right way, quieting her laughing.

Nl: Bram en Anna vonden hun weg terug naar hun hotel, lachend om de grap van Sofia. Ze hadden hun weg niet gevonden, maar wel een onvergetelijke herinnering gemaakt in de grachten van Amsterdam.
En: Bram and Anna found their way back to their hotel, laughing about Sofia's prank. They didn't find their way, but they made an unforgettable memory in the canals of Amsterdam.
