Story Transcript:

Ga: Lá amháin i lár na tuaithe, bhí teach tábhairne beag áit a mbailíodh muintir na háite le haghaidh ceoil, cainte agus craic.
En: Once in the middle of the countryside, there was a small pub where the locals gathered for music, conversation, and fun.

Ga: Bhí an teach tábhairne seo ar an gcrosbhóthar, áit a raibh sean-charraig mhór ag féachaint síos ar an doras dúnta.
En: This pub was on the crossroads, where an old big rock looked down at the closed door.

Ga: Baile beag bríomhar a bhí ann le spiorad láidir pobail.
En: It was a lively little town with a strong community spirit.

Ga: Bhí Seamus, fear mór le fáilte, ina shuí cois tine ag fanacht ar a chara, Aoife, le teacht.
En: Seamus, a big welcoming man, sat by the fire waiting for his friend, Aoife, to arrive.

Ga: Fear mór le gáire a bhí in Seamus, agus gruaig chomh buí le tuí ar lasair na tine.
En: Seamus had a hearty laugh, and hair as blond as fire.

Ga: Bhí Aoife í féin chomh geal le gealach agus chomh cairdiúil le samhradh te, agus bhí sí fíorghrásta i gcónaí.
En: Aoife was as bright as the moon and as friendly as a warm summer, and she was always very graceful.

Ga: Chomh luath agus a d'oscail Aoife an doras, lasadh suas aghaidh Sheamais.
En: As soon as Aoife opened the door, Seamus' face lit up.

Ga: Ach, ní raibh sé Aoife a chonaic sé, ach caora bán atá taobh amuigh den fhuinneog, a ghruaig bhán ag lonradh sa ghrian agus í díreach in áit ceart chun Aoife a chur as a meabhair agus é ag breathnú amach.
En: But, it wasn't Aoife he saw, but a white sheep outside the window, its white hair shining in the sun, standing right in the right place to distract Aoife as she looked out.

Ga: Gan smaoineamh faoi faoi dhó, ghlaodh Seamus amach, "Aoife, a chara!
En: Without thinking twice, Seamus called out, "Aoife, my friend!

Ga: Tá tú an-luath anocht!
En: You are very early tonight!"

Ga: "Chuir an slua ar fad iad féin ag gáire nuair a thuig siad cad a bhí ar siúl.
En: The whole crowd burst out laughing when they understood what was happening.

Ga: Seamus, a bhí dall gan a spéaclaí, ag caint go dáiríre le caora seachas a chara.
En: Seamus, who was blind without his glasses, was speaking seriously to a sheep instead of his friend.

Ga: Rith an scéal tríd an teach tábhairne go luath faoin eachtra greannmhar.
En: The story ran through the pub quickly as a hilarious event.

Ga: Tháinig Aoife féin isteach agus chonaic an suíomh aisteach.
En: Aoife herself came in and saw the strange situation.

Ga: "Ó Seamus," ar sí, agus í ag cur súil uirthi féin agus ansin ag an gcaora, "ar mhaith leat insint dom cé acu againn is fearr leat mar chuideachta?
En: "Oh Seamus," she said, looking at herself and then at the sheep, "would you like to tell me which of us you prefer as company?"

Ga: "Phléasc an teach tábhairne le gáire arís, agus an t-am seo, bhraith Seamus an ghreann.
En: The pub exploded with laughter again, and this time, Seamus felt the humor.

Ga: Bhí a chroí chomh mór lena gháire, agus dúirt sé, "M'anam, tá an bheirt agaibh chomh hálainn le chéile, ach is le mo chara Aoife amháin a bhíonn an caint is fearr.
En: His heart was as big as his laughter, and he said, "My dear, you both are as beautiful together, but it is with my friend Aoife that I prefer to talk."

Ga: "Ón lá sin amach, bhí an scéal faoi Sheamus agus an chaora ina nath cainte i measc muintir an bhaile.
En: From then on, the story of Seamus and the sheep became a common saying among the townsfolk.

Ga: Bhí sé mar chuimhneachán go bhfuil earráidí beaga i gcónaí ann chun muid a chur ag gáire agus chun na daoine timpeall orainn a thabhairt níos gaire dár gcroíthe.
En: It was a reminder that there are always small mishaps to make us laugh and to bring the people around us closer to our hearts.

Ga: Gach uair a d'fhéach Seamus ar chaora, mheabhraigh sé dó gan a pháirtí cainte a roghnú gan a spéaclaí, ach níos tábhachtaí fós, thug sé cuimhne dó na hamanna sona agus an gáire a roinn sé lena chairde, Aoife agus Siobhan, sa teach tábhairne beag i lár na tuaithe.
En: Every time Seamus looked at a sheep, he reminded himself not to choose a conversation partner without his glasses, but more importantly, he remembered the happy times and the laughter he shared with his friends, Aoife and Siobhan, in the small pub in the middle of the countryside.
