Story Transcript:

Sl: Nekega sončnega popoldneva je Ana obiskala čarobno Blejsko jezero.
En: One sunny afternoon, Ana visited the magical Lake Bled.

En: The water there was as calm as glass, and the green island in the middle of the lake seemed like a fairyland.

En: Ana had brought a bag of breadcrumbs with her, as she had heard that there were many swans there that she could feed.

Sl: Ko je Ana hodila ob robu jezera, je zaslišala glasno klicanje.
En: As Ana walked along the edge of the lake, she heard loud calls.

Sl: "Poglej, kako lep labod!
En: "Look, what a beautiful swan!"

Sl: " je vzkliknila in hitela proti vodi.
En: she exclaimed and hurried towards the water.

En: Unaware that the "swan" was actually Matej, a young man from a nearby village who had covered his head with a white towel while searching for his little sister's lost toy behind the bushes.

Sl: Ana je, prepričana v svojo zmoto, začela metati drobtine proti Mateju.
En: Convinced of her mistake, Ana began throwing breadcrumbs towards Matej.

Sl: "Tu, labod, tu imaš!
En: "Here, swan, here you go!"

Sl: " je klicala z nasmeškom.
En: she called out with a smile.

Sl: Matejevo presenečenje je bilo neizmerno, ko so drobtine priletale okrog njega.
En: Matej's surprise was immense as the breadcrumbs flew around him.

En: Quickly, he removed the towel from his head and shouted, "Hey, I'm not a swan!"

En: Ana stood frozen as she realized her error.

En: Blushing, she began to apologize.

En: "I'm sorry, I thought you were a swan," she said with a bewildered smile.

En: Matej just laughed and replied, "No problem, it happens.

En: I was just looking for my sister's toy."

Sl: " Ana in Matej sta začela pogovor in med smehom ugotovila, da ju oba zanima narava in živali.
En: Ana and Matej started a conversation and, amidst laughter, discovered that they were both interested in nature and animals.

En: To make amends, Ana offered Matej to feed the real swans with the remaining breadcrumbs.

Sl: Skupaj sta se sprehodila ob jezeru, opazovala labode in se pogovarjala o lokalnih znamenitostih.
En: They walked together by the lake, observed the swans, and talked about local attractions.

En: By evening, they had become good friends and promised to return to Lake Bled, perhaps next time with more breadcrumbs – for the real swans.
