Nl: Hier is het verhaal van Sophie, Lars en Emma, drie vrienden die in Amsterdam werken.
En: Here is the story of Sophie, Lars, and Emma, three friends working in Amsterdam.

Nl: Sophie, de jongste van de drie, werkt in een groot, modern kantoor in de Zuidas.
En: Sophie, the youngest of the three, works in a large, modern office in the Zuidas district.

Nl: Lars, de stille maar altijd lachende, is kok in een druk restaurant in het centrum.
En: Lars, the quiet but always smiling one, is a chef in a busy restaurant in the city center.

Nl: Emma, stoutmoedig en vastberaden, werkt voor een boekhandel op het Spui.
En: Emma, bold and determined, works for a bookstore on the Spui square.

Nl: Amsterdam is hun thuis, hun speeltuin - en zo nu en dan, hun waterpark.
En: Amsterdam is their home, their playground - and occasionally, their water park.

Nl: Op een donkere, regenachtige ochtend werden de vrienden wakker.
En: On a dark, rainy morning, the friends woke up.

Nl: Ze hoorden wind die tegen de ramen bonkte en zagen regendruppels hard op de grond vallen.
En: They heard the wind banging against the windows and saw raindrops falling hard on the ground.

Nl: "Dit wordt een interessante dag," zeiden ze, terwijl ze zich klaarmaakten voor hun fietsrit naar het werk.
En: "This will be an interesting day," they said as they got ready for their bike ride to work.

En: Together, they made the best of it.
