“Behind the Mitten” is Michigan’s premiere travel radio show and Podcast, and since 2015 it has published more than 500 episodes. It is co-hosted by veteran journalist John Gonzalez and longtime chef & beer expert Amy Sherman. The show has been recognized by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters as Best in Category.

Last week we gave you a shout to Spring with our Butterflies & Bubbly Show. Well, It's never too early to think Summer! This week we talk about popular summer events in Traverse City and Bay City, and a cool brewery to visit in Mackinaw City if you're headed to the U.P. or downstate..

Season 5, Episode 9:

• We open the show talking about some of our recent travels, then bring on Barry Owens, the GM at Treetops Resort, to fill us in on Sylvan Daze (March 11), where you will get an INCREDIBLE deal for lift tickets.
• Kat Paye, the president & CEO of the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City updates us on the latest concert news and what's new this year. The Festival is July 1-8.
• Earl Bovia, president of the Bay City Fireworks Festival (and owner of Bay City Bills and the Rathskeller), stops in to tell us about what we can expect at this year's show, June 29-July 1.
• Then we head to Mackinaw City where we catch up with longtime friend Danny Ranville, GM/brewer of Biere de Mac Brew Works. We talk about the brewery's return to food after closing it kitchen and then going to food trucks. He also talks about a Ted Talk-style speaker series, Tap Talk, that's been a hit in the local community.
