Story Transcript:

Ga: Lá amháin i dteach tábhairne beag teolaí i nGaillimh, bhí triúr cairde ag suí ag bord adhmaid cois tine lasta.
En: One day in a small cozy pub in Galway, three friends were sitting at a wooden table beside a blazing fire.

Ga: Bhí na ballaí maisithe le huirlisí ceoil seanré agus grianghraif bheaga d'fhir iascaireachta.
En: The walls were adorned with traditional musical instruments and small photos of fishermen.

Ga: Bhí Seamus, Aoife, agus Pádraig ag ól agus ag comhrá go socair.
En: Seamus, Aoife, and Pádraig were drinking and conversing calmly.

Ga: Bhí Seamus ina shuí idir Aoife agus Pádraig, agus é ag súil go mór le hoíche shuaimhneach leo.
En: Seamus was sitting between Aoife and Pádraig, eagerly looking forward to a peaceful evening with them.

Ga: Ba ghearr go raibh Seamus tar éis pínt nó dhó a ól agus thosaigh a chuid focail ag meascadh le chéile.
En: Before long, Seamus had downed a pint or two and started mixing his words.

Ga: Ag éisteacht le gcainteanna faoi laethanta sean agus amhráin traidisiúnta, bhain Seamus sult as an atmaisféar.
En: Listening to conversations about olden days and traditional songs, Seamus enjoyed the atmosphere.

Ga: "Ó, tabharfaidh mé cuairt ar an leithreas," arsa Pádraig agus é ag éirí óna shuí, agus bhog sé amach as an radharc.
En: "Oh, I'll visit the restroom," said Pádraig, rising from his seat and moving out of sight.

Ga: Chas Aoife a haghaidh i dtreo an stáitse beag, áit a raibh ceoltóirí ag bailiú lena n-uirlisí.
En: Aoife turned her head towards the small stage, where musicians were gathering with their instruments.

Ga: Bhí Seamus ina aonar ag an mbord.
En: Seamus was alone at the table.

Ga: Bhí a intinn ag snámh sna tonnta alcóil a bhí sé tar éis a ól.
En: His mind was swimming in the alcohol-induced waves he'd consumed.

Ga: Tar éis tamaill, shleamhnaigh Seamus óna chathaoir agus thosaigh sé ag siúl timpeall an tí tábhairne, agus é ag lorg Pádraig.
En: After a while, Seamus slipped out of his chair and began walking around the pub, searching for Pádraig.

Ga: Ach bhí an tábhairne lán le daoine móra agus beaga, agus bhí sé deacair dul i measc na slua.
En: But the pub was packed with people big and small, and it was hard to navigate through the crowd.

Ga: Taobh amuigh de dhoras cúil an tí tábhairne, bhris Seamus amach san aer úr.
En: Outside the back door of the pub, Seamus breathed in the fresh air.

Ga: Ag siúl sa ghairdín beag, chonaic Seamus amach as cúinne a shúile figure leathanaigh, bán.
En: Walking in the small garden, Seamus saw out of the corner of his eye a broad, white figure.

Ga: "A Phádraig," arsa Seamus, ag síneadh amach a lámh chun a chara a thapú ar an ghualainn.
En: "Pádraig," said Seamus, reaching out his hand to tap his friend on the shoulder.

Ga: Ach ní Pádraig a bhí ann ar chor ar bith.
En: But it wasn't Pádraig at all.

Ga: Ba caora a bhí ann, le haghaidh an fhírinne a insint, agus í ag ineall go suaimhneach faoin spéir réaltach.
En: It was a sheep, peacefully resting under the starry sky.

Ga: "Ó, gabh mo leithscéal," gáirí Seamus, ag tabhairt aire don mhearú aige.
En: "Oh, excuse me," laughed Seamus, attending to his mistake.

Ga: Pilleann sé ar ais taobh istigh, agus insíonn sé a scéal do Aoife, a bhí ag gáire go croíúil anois.
En: He returned inside, telling his story to Aoife, who was now laughing heartily.

Ga: D'fhill Pádraig, agus é ag féachaint ar cheithre thimpeall, feargach faoin meascán suas.
En: Pádraig returned, looking around angrily for the mixing up.

Ga: Ach ní raibh ach gáire agus spórt sa deireadh nuair a chuala sé faoin eachtra.
En: But there was only laughter and fun in the end when he heard about the incident.

Ga: "Déarfaimid gur mheasc an fíon le do chéill!
En: "We'll say the wine got the better of you!"

Ga: " a dúirt sé le Seamus, agus iad araon ag gáire go hard.
En: he said to Seamus, and both of them laughed loudly.

Ga: Ón lá sin amach, bhí scéal faoi Seamus agus an chaora mar chuid de scéalta tí tábhairne Ghailimh, agus bhí ceacht le foghlaim acu: Uaireanta bíonn na caoirigh níos cosúla le do chairde ná mar a cheapfá, ach tá sé tábhachtach fanacht sobhriste go leor chun fios a bheith agat cén difríocht!
En: From that day on, the story of Seamus and the sheep was part of the tales of Galway's pubs, and they learned a lesson: Sometimes, the sheep are more like your friends than you'd think, but it's important to stay sober enough to know the difference!

Ga: Chríochnaigh an oíche le hamhráin, gáire, agus cuimhne greannmhar a mhairfeadh go deo i measc cairde, i dteach tábhairne beag, teolaí i nGaillimh.
En: The night ended with songs, laughter, and a funny memory that would last forever among friends, in a small cozy pub in Galway.
