show moreWife, Mother, Prophetess, Judge, and a respected National Leader was Deborah. Barak was tasked with leading Israeli troops against the powerful Canaanite army. He wanted God's presence. Could this be why Barak asked Deborah to come, so he would know God would be with them? What if Barak had chosen his own ego over the outcome, which was ending the oppression?
Ten thousand Israelites went up for battle. Sisera gathered his 900 tanks (chariots of iron) and thousands of troops to fight against Israel. Read the scripture text for today to see who and how the Israelis went on to defeat the Canaanites and received rest for 40 years!
Barak is a hero of the faith because he followed the leader that God had appointed and anointed, Deborah! You and I should follow who God has anointed and appointed to leadership - man or woman! Pray for the spirit of discernment and examine the fruit of the person. Always!
