Story Transcript:
En: One sunny afternoon, Maja decided to take a walk through the old city center of Ljubljana.
En: The city was bustling with life, and Maja was looking forward to meeting Luka, her good friend.
En: They had arranged to meet at the Prešeren monument, a well-known rendezvous spot for friends and lovers.
En: Maja, who sometimes had trouble distinguishing faces, approached the monument and saw what she thought was Luka.
Sl: "Hej Luka, kako si?
En: "Hey Luka, how are you?"
En: she asked cheerfully, without taking a good look.
En: She continued explaining how excited she was to see him and told him about a funny incident that had happened to her that day.
En: In reality, she was talking to a statue that looked very much like Luka.
En: The real Luka was standing a little ways off, observing the scene.
En: He was barely able to contain his laughter as he watched Maja casually talk to the statue and gesture with her hands to emphasize her stories.
Sl: Po nekaj minutah je Maja končno ugotovila svojo napako.
En: After a few minutes, Maja finally realized her mistake.
En: She looked around and caught sight of Luka’s smiling face.
En: A blush spread across her face, and they both burst out laughing.
Sl: "Luka, zakaj me nisi takoj ustavil?
En: "Luka, why didn't you stop me right away?"
Sl: " je vprašala med smehom.
En: she asked amidst laughter.
En: Luka, who was now laughing uncontrollably, replied, "It was too much fun watching you talk so nicely to the statue.
Sl: Mislim, da imaš novega občudovalca!
En: I think you've gained a new admirer!"
En: Maja lightly tapped him on the shoulder, but she couldn't contain her laughter.
En: From then on, this became their favorite anecdote, which they shared over coffee in the shade of the magnificent Ljubljana church.
En: Maja and Luka discovered that no matter the confusion and clumsiness, true friends always find their way back to each other - and that every mistake can be just another reason for laughter and joy.
En: And so, Maja and Luka turned a small mistake into a lasting memory of friendship, one paved with statues, laughter, and the streets of Ljubljana.
