We weren’t close as others, but I considered him a Pawpaw (that is Grandfather) figure, although he probably never knew it. He loved to preach, hear/let others and hear good old Gospel music. Back when I was a kid, not even saved yet, I came by ‘PET while he was on and I remember Brother Arvin saying, here he goes again, gettin’ all redfaced; LOL! Many probably don’t know, but he was on for a time, back in 1962, on the old WFRC, Reidsville and even filled in for at least one other preacher from Greensboro (Arthur Perkins), on his broadcast on the same station later, which ironically, came on right after his own, when he had it. Brother Coon let me borrow some old real-to-real tapes containing his last two broadcasts on ‘FRC and where he filled in for Brother Perkins as well. This particular broadcast, is his next-to-last broadcast of his own, from those. I know the songs, testimonies, announcements, strong message on the sinner's final home, worldliness and the refuge from both and just the look back in time, will be a blessing.
