Story Transcript:

Nl: Zwaar opgepakte wolken zweefden boven Amsterdam.
En: Heavy dark clouds hung over Amsterdam.

Nl: Regen viel in dikke druppels.
En: Rain fell in thick drops.

Nl: Lars en Sanne keken uit het raam.
En: Lars and Sanne looked out the window.

Nl: Ze moesten snel naar de boekenwinkel op de hoek.
En: They had to quickly get to the bookstore on the corner.

Nl: Maar hoe?
En: But how?

Nl: Lars pakte een paraplu.
En: Lars grabbed an umbrella.

Nl: Hij lachte.
En: He chuckled.

Nl: "Ik heb een idee.
En: "I have an idea.

Nl: Laten we de paraplu als schild gebruiken.
En: Let's use the umbrella as a shield.

Nl: Met de fiets, uiteraard!
En: On the bike, of course!"

Nl: "Sanne dacht na.
En: Sanne pondered.

Nl: Ze lachte.
En: She laughed.

Nl: "De paraplu op z'n kop houden, bedoel je?
En: "Hold the umbrella upside down, you mean?"

Nl: " Lars knikte.
En: Lars nodded.

Nl: "Als een boot, ja!
En: "Like a boat, yes!"

Nl: "Zij pedaalde, hij hield de paraplu met beide handen vast.
En: She pedaled, he held the umbrella with both hands.

Nl: Als een ondersteboven boot, vingen ze regendruppels op.
En: Like an upside-down boat, they caught raindrops.

Nl: Hun fiets zwiepte heen en weer, maar ze gingen door.
En: Their bike swayed back and forth, but they pressed on.

Nl: Het was een spektakel.
En: It was a spectacle.

Nl: Mensen op straat keken en wezen.
En: People on the street looked and pointed.

Nl: Ze lachten en klapten.
En: They laughed and clapped.

Nl: Lars en Sanne voelden zich als artiesten in een circus.
En: Lars and Sanne felt like artists in a circus.

Nl: Het gaf ze moed.
En: It gave them courage.

Nl: In de boekenwinkel prees de verkoper hen.
En: In the bookstore, the shopkeeper praised them.

Nl: Hij had ze door het raam gezien.
En: He had seen them through the window.

Nl: Lars en Sanne lachten trots.
En: Lars and Sanne laughed proudly.

Nl: Ze zochten hun boek, betaalden en gingen terug naar buiten.
En: They found their book, paid, and headed back outside.

En: But it was too early to celebrate.

En: Outside, the rain poured even harder.

En: The inverted umbrella now resembled more of a bathtub!

Nl: Lars en Sanne moesten iets anders bedenken.
En: Lars and Sanne had to come up with something else.

Nl: Ze dachten na.
En: They thought.

Nl: Toen kreeg Lars een beter idee.
En: Then Lars had a better idea.

Nl: Hij nam de paraplu en sloeg het dicht.
En: He closed the umbrella.

Nl: "Laten we rennen!
En: "Let's run!"

Nl: " zei hij.
En: he said.

Nl: Dus renden ze.
En: So they ran.

Nl: Ze renden en ze lachten.
En: They ran and they laughed.

Nl: Ze waren doorweekt, maar ze hadden plezier.
En: They were soaked, but they had fun.

Nl: De straten van Amsterdam waren nu hun waterpark.
En: The streets of Amsterdam had now become their water park.

Nl: Terug thuis, waren ze gelukkig.
En: Back at home, they were happy.

Nl: Ze waren samen door de regen gegaan.
En: They had gone through the rain together.

Nl: Ze waren creatief geweest.
En: They had been creative.

Nl: En het beste van alles?
En: And best of all?

Nl: Ze hadden veel plezier gehad.
En: They had a lot of fun.
