Cs: Sluneční paprsky pronikaly vysokými okny do chladné, tlumené síně starověké knihovny v Alexandrii.
En: The sun's rays penetrated the tall windows into the chilly, subdued hall of the ancient library in Alexandria.

Cs: Všude kolem Václava se tyčily regály naplněné svitky.
En: Shelves filled with scrolls towered all around Václav.

Cs: Václav přišel z daleké země.
En: He had come from a distant land.

Cs: Je to učenec s tajnou touhou být uznán jako velký historik.
En: He was a scholar with the secret desire to be recognized as a great historian.

Cs: Dnes měl příležitost studovat vzácný svitek.
En: Today, he had the opportunity to study a rare scroll.

Cs: „Musím vám něco říct,“ začal Václav nervózním hlasem, když se zastavil před hlavním knihovníkem.
En: "I have something to tell you," Václav began nervously as he stopped in front of the head librarian.

Cs: „Ano?
En: "Yes?"

Cs: “ zeptal se knihovník a zvedl oči.

Cs: „Spadl mi svitek do polévky a poničil jsem ho,“ přiznal Václav a sklonil hlavu.
En: "I dropped a scroll into the soup and damaged it," Václav admitted, bowing his head.

Cs: Na chvíli bylo ticho.
En: For a moment, there was silence.

Cs: Václav čekal na soud.
En: Václav awaited judgment.

Cs: Stará knihovna byla naplněna napětím.
En: The old library was filled with tension.

Cs: Knihovník přešel k Václavovi a zlehka se usmál.
En: The librarian walked over to Václav and gently smiled.

Cs: „Víš, nehody se stávají.
En: "You know, accidents happen.

Cs: Důležitá je tvoje ochota přiznat chybu.

Cs: “Václav se překvapeně podíval na knihovníka.
