Saint Nicolas appeared in the dark and said,
St. Nicholas: What does Christmas mean to you? I’m a little upset with these Christmas’s. Who do you say that I am? Am I St. Nicholas or Santa Clause?
Saint Nicholas appeared on a crowded street in a big city of shopping stores.
St. Nicholas: All I see is angry men shopping and fighting over material things when the holidays come around. It’s the spirit of the mean and ugly troll. Some people hide their gifts, and they forget about decorating with the big bright lights. They do not appear to celebrate because of thieves. I see so much greed. I see so called love once every Christmas. There ought to be love all the time. There are so many sad faces. There has been so much disaster, and people have lost their homes in the storms. Christmas is starting to look like a day slapped on the calendar. Some people celebrate it before the turkey is cooked and done for Thanksgiving. There are people ready to see Christmas come and go. It’s becoming a burden to some. Some people are too tired to even celebrate it being overworked for very little pay.
Saint Nicholas appeared in front of a church.
St. Nicholas: People want to know what is Christmas, and they want to know whether it really is the day that Christ was born. I can see why some people wonder. It’s all about Santa, but it’s supposed to be about Christ. It’s about having him in your life. Yes, I am Saint Nicholas, and I dedicate my life to God. He is the one that should be worshiped. However, some people worship things and made up gods. I can hear the evil troll laughing at everyone now. I have a request, and I'm making my request to God.
