On June 24th in sports history, one significant event took place in 1995 during the NBA Finals between the Houston Rockets and the Orlando Magic. In Game 4 of the series, the Rockets found themselves trailing the Magic by 20 points in the second quarter. However, led by the incredible performance of Hakeem Olajuwon, the Rockets staged a remarkable comeback.
Olajuwon, often referred to as "The Dream," put on a basketball clinic that night. He scored 35 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and blocked 4 shots, showcasing his dominance on both ends of the court. His footwork in the post was impeccable, and his signature "Dream Shake" move left defenders helpless.
The Rockets chipped away at the Magic's lead, and by the fourth quarter, they had managed to tie the game. With just seconds remaining, Kenny Smith hit a crucial three-pointer to give the Rockets a one-point lead. However, the Magic had one final chance to win the game.
In a heart-stopping moment, Orlando's Nick Anderson missed four consecutive free throws that could have sealed the victory for the Magic. The Rockets held on to win the game 106-103, completing one of the greatest comebacks in NBA Finals history.
This victory gave the Rockets a commanding 3-1 lead in the series, and they would go on to win the NBA Championship in the next game, sweeping the Magic 4-0. It was the Rockets' second consecutive championship, cementing their place as one of the most dominant teams of the 1990s.
