Laila Ali was a very serious female fighter. She didn’t jive around like her daddy though he could be serious too and knock you out. Laila’s the daughter of Muhammad Ali. Laila is a retired professional boxer who competed from 1999 to 2007. She said, “I’m not going to be fighting as nearly as long as my father did.”
From 1999 to 2007 was almost 10 yrs. for Laila. Considering Laila getting punched in the ring, that was still a long time. She retired from boxing in 2007 as a two - weight world champion with an undefeated record of 24-0.
I remember when Laila Ali fought Jackie Frazier. It was my first time watching women’s boxing. I didn’t think it would be so exciting but it was. When I saw Laila Ali fighting Jackie Frazier, I was hooked. She was fighting the daughter of Joe Frazier. It was another Ali Vs. Frazier fight through 2 women. It was a fight that happened in 2001. Laila Ali had won the fight. I’ll never forget.
From then on, I was looking for more fights from Laila Ali in women’s boxing. I never heard anything else about Jackie. It was always Laila Ali in the headlines. There seemed to be always some kind of buzz or noise about Laila.
I got a chance to go back and see some of Laila’s past fights that I had missed before she retired. I knew and felt down in my heart that Laila was going to be the greatest just like her father. And that’s what she became. The greatest female boxer of all time.
